Q1: How did you get this part?
JF: The movie, itself, has a history before me. It was something Ridley Scott wanted to direct on his own early in his career. He had done the Dualist(?) and then he saw Star Wars and said he needed to make his own space movie so he made Alien. He always wanted to make this, but he was too busy so he hired Kevin and I guess Kevin was a fan of mine or thought I would be right for it so he called me in. It felt like I wanted to do a classic love story. It's hard to do a love story in a contemporary setting without making a romantic comedy. It's hard to do a serious love story unless it's a period piece. People are jaded or I don't know what. This one seemed to work.
Q2: Why did you immerse yourself in the legend like you did?
JF: In the movies before I got used to doing as much preparation as I could. I signed on to this movie a year in advance and I had a lot of time on my hands. I was used to researching by...
