Q1: What is the attraction of the role for you?
Kevin Kline: I knew on page two I wanted to play this character. It was so funny. I remember my agent called after and asked, "What'd you think?" It just delighted me, tickled me, and made me laugh out loud. I found it so original; Jonathan Ames voice is original. The characters are original, even though you can compare them to other eccentric characters in literature and film. He was so outrageous, flamboyant, and extravagant, contradictory, and complicated, but funny and so unpredictable. You just never knew what he is going to do or say next. I knew immediately I wanted to be him in this movie.

Q2: Do you know anyone like him?
KK: Oh, yes I do! The one I know is fabulously wealthy and gay. Which, we don't know if Henry is gay or not. I'm sure I've met them, but didn't necessarily know that's what they did. Working in the theater in New York, one can meet flamboyant men about town. I didn't ba...
